A faulty CrowdStrike update may cause Windows computers to display a crash message shortly after starting.

  1. Enter Windows Recovery Environment from Blank, Black, Blue screen

  2. On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.

  3. After your device restarts, you'll see a list of options. Select option 5 from the list or press F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.

  4. Open File Explorer and select This PC

  5. Navigate to the following directory: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike

  6. Locate any files beginning with “C-00000291”, and delete them.

  7. Boot the system normally
