A faulty CrowdStrike update may cause Windows computers to display a crash message shortly after starting.

Please plug your computer into the network with a cable if you are able to do so.

Before following these instructions restart your computer several times.

  • This may enable the computer to download an update that will resolve the issue and allow you to log in normally.

  1. Enter Windows Recovery Environment from Blank, Black, Blue screen

  2. From the Windows Recovery Screen choose Troubleshoot image-20240719-115845.png

  3. On the troubleshooting screen, choose Advanced Options image-20240719-120008.png

  4. From advanced options, choose System Restore. image-20240719-120109.png

  5. If prompted, enter the Recovery Code

    1. Retrieve Bitlocker Recovery Key

  6. Choose the restore point with the description: Crowdstrike Windows Sensor with a date of 7/18 or 7/19

  7. Click Next

  8. Click Finish

  9. Click Yes

  10. After the process completes, restart the computer
